Dr. Denise Wood has experience performing forensic psychological and neurological assessments for businesses, government agencies, and the court system. 

A comprehensive examination involves administering, scoring, and interpreting tests and inventories; behavioral observation; conducting client interviews; and obtaining a detailed history and analysis of prior educational, medical, and/or psychological records. 

Psychological evaluations are primarily concerned with behavioral and emotional issues such as Depression, Anxiety, Panic Attacks, and Deviant Behavioral Issues.

Psychological Assessment involves measurement and evaluation of:
  1. Mood
  2. Personality
  3. Stress and distress (the reaction to stress)
  4. Style and ability to relate to others
  5. Problem behaviors and emotions

Cognitive skills are also measured and include:

  1. Intelligence
  2. Language Skills
  3. Achievement and Aptitude
  4. Visuospatial skills
  5. Mental control (attention, concentration, mental flexibility, problem solving, planning, multi-tasking, and persistence)
  6. Speed of thought and movement
  7. Memory
  8. Reasoning abilities

A complete psychological assessment is valuable in determining:

  1. A diagnosis
  2. A clearer picture of a client’s problem behaviors or distressing emotions
  3. A client’s overall strengths and weaknesses
  4. Treatment recommendations
  5. The factual basis for obtaining special help (disability payments, special accommodations, the basis for legal action, etc.)
